Meet Wendy Shaw
Some people discover their dream job after opening a lot of different doors. I was one of those who knew as a child that my gift was creating indoor spaces that just felt right. My wonderful mother indulged my childhood hobby of constantly rearranging the rooms of our homes, and she nurtured my creativity.
However, when I began my adult life, I found myself in an unrelated career, paying the bills and wondering "What if?"
Fortunately, I listened to that inner voice that kept calling me back to my lifelong passion, and I traded the corporate jungle to launch Shaw Designs, a company that allows me to do what I love by helping my clients fall in love with their homes or work environments.
As an interior designer and home staging consultant, my days are filled with helping my clients create spaces that reflect their unique tastes, and that function smoothly within their lifestyle. I am overwhelmed with ideas when I encounter each new space, and I love developing the kind of relationships with my clients that helps me create their ideal design.
Another fun part of my job is helping people transition from their current home to the new home that awaits them by staging their home to achieve a quicker sale. Often clients are emotionally invested in the look and feel of their home, and aren't able to see it the way a potential buyer might view it. I can provide an outside expert opinion about how to make the home more appealing to prospects, thus helping with a quicker turnover.
Lately, I've discovered a whole new set of clients - those who are moving from their homes to alternative living spaces, such as senior living communities or apartments. Facing that life change can be traumatic, and I love helping ease the transition by showing them how they can bring their favorite things to their new space and make it feel just like home. My passion has always been helping people love their spaces, and in my pursuit of that goal, no day ever feels like work.
