About me...
Ever since I was a child, I've been very sensitive to the effect our living environments have on our mood, our sense of peace and well-being, and our feeling of security. My wonderful mother indulged my constant rearranging of the rooms in our home and supported my creative decorating ideas. After more than 20 years behind a desk in an unrelated career field, I've finally come full circle to realize my lifelong dream of owning my own interior design firm, Shaw Designs.
As a full-time designer and home staging consultant, my days are filled with helping my clients create spaces that speak to their unique style, and that function smoothly within their lifestyle. I am overwhelmed with ideas when I encounter each new space, and I love developing the kind of relationships with my clients that helps me reflect their personalities in each room.
Another fun part of my job is helping people transition from their current home to the new home that awaits them by staging their home to achieve a quicker sale. Often clients are emotionally invested in the look and feel of their home, and aren't able to see it the way a potential buyer might view it. I can provide an outside expert opinion about how to make the home more appealing to prospects, thus helping with a quicker turnover.
My passion has always been helping people love their spaces, and in my pursuit of that goal, no day ever feels like work.

Most importantly, you'll receive my undivided attention and my commitment to bring your vision to life within your budget and time frame. Whether you've got a specific look in mind, or just know you're ready for a change, I can make it happen.
What about hiring one of the bigger design firms?
Their costs are higher and their structure may mean you deal with several people. Your business is my livelihood, so you can be sure I'm cost effective and completely devoted to your satisfaction.
I just want a cozier family room. Don't designers focus on more sophisticated projects?
Some do, but I just want to help you love your space, whatever the space and whatever your idea. So whether it's a family room or a corporate office suite, I learn about you and your style, and then together we create the perfect space.
I don't have a lot of money, so is it even worth it?
No matter your budget, I can always help improve your space by taking what you already have and finding new ways to use it. I also work with some clients in phases, where we do a little at a time to better fit their budgets.
What if our tastes don't match?
My goal is not to impose my style on your space, but instead to help create a room that reflects your personality and that works well with your lifestyle. I'll give you my expert opinion, and then you're free to decide how you'd like to proceed.

I honestly believe that our spaces contribute to the balance we have in our lives, if furniture and items have their place, it's easier to take care of your space, thereby creating more of a balance in our lives. When our space is in disarray, so can our lives be.
